Amman, SANA- The final statement of the Meeting of Syria’s Neighboring Countries, which concluded Sunday in the Jordanian capital of Amman, emphasized that Syria’s security and stability are pivotal to the security and stability of the region. The statement also condemned all attempts targeting Syria’s security, sovereignty, and peace.

The statement called for the lifting of sanctions on Syria, enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation, and collaboration in infrastructure development. It affirmed support for the Syrian people in their efforts to rebuild their homeland, condemned the Israeli aggression on Syrian territory, denounced terrorism in all its forms, and emphasized military, security, and ideological cooperation in combating it.

The participants highlighted the following:

1. Supporting the Syrian people in rebuilding their homeland based on principles that ensure Syria’s security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while safeguarding the rights and safety of all its citizens.

2. Recognizing Syria’s security and stability as foundational to regional security and stability, and condemning all groups and efforts targeting Syria’s sovereignty and peace.

3. Condemning the Israeli aggression on Syrian territory and rejecting Israeli interventions in Syrian affairs as blatant violations of international law, assaults on Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and escalations that fuel further conflict. The statement urged the international community and the Security Council to enforce international and humanitarian law, halt Israeli hostility, ensure Israel withdraws from all occupied Syrian territories, and respect the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel.

4. Welcoming the outcomes of the Syrian National Dialogue Conference and encouraging the Syrian people to expedite the announcement of the constitutional declaration proposed by the conference.

5. Condemning terrorism in all forms and collaborating militarily, security-wise, and ideologically to combat it. The establishment of a joint operations center was proposed for coordination in combating Daesh (ISIS), bolstering ongoing regional and international efforts, and dealing with ISIS prisons.

6. Combating cross-border drug and arms trafficking, as well as organized crime, and supporting Syria in bolstering its capacities in this context.

7. Supporting Syria’s reconstruction efforts and mobilizing international support to increase aid for early recovery projects, overcoming obstacles to rebuilding.

8. Stressing the need to lift sanctions on Syria to enhance its reconstruction capabilities and meet the needs of its people.

9. Strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation, and developing infrastructure in sectors such as energy and transport between Syria and neighboring countries to foster economic development.

10. Working together, in collaboration with regional countries, the international community, and relevant UN organizations, to create the security, living, and political conditions necessary for the safe and sustainable return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, in accordance with international law. The statement also emphasized the importance of the international community continuing to fulfill its responsibilities towards refugees in host countries until their return to Syria is complete.

11. Agreeing to hold a second round of meetings in Turkey next month to build on Sunday’s discussions and make the necessary decisions regarding them.
