Minister of Social Affairs Hind Kabawat said at the inauguration ceremony that the center is no longer just a detention facility, but a comprehensive center featuring classrooms, a library, and a playground. It offers modern educational and psychological programs designed to facilitate children’s reintegration into society.

Julie Khoury, Director of Social Affairs and Labor in Tartous, said the center will accommodate 36 to 45 children from various governorates. It provides psychological rehabilitation, educational programs, literacy courses, and vocational training in areas such as computer skills, graphic design, and Photoshop, all under direct family supervision.

Minister Kabawat also launched the “Growth” project in cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP). The project currently operates in partnership with the local Directorate of Social Affairs, contributing 20 percent, with plans to expand to full state coverage within five years.

Kabawat also visited the Institute for the Education of the Deaf and Mute in Tartous, emphasizing the importance of teaching sign language and integrating children into community activities.

These initiatives are part of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ efforts to strengthen the social welfare system and develop its services nationwide
