Seoul, Oct. 2 (SANA) South Korean President Lee Jae Myung warned Ukraine on Friday that Seoul could take further measures unless Kyiv formally apologizes over the disclosure of an operation to transfer two North Korean prisoners of war to South Korea.
“If Ukraine continues to deny the truth and refuses to issue a formal apology, Seoul will take additional measures,” Yonhap quoted Lee as saying in a post on X.
The warning follows a dispute over whether Seoul and Kyiv had agreed to keep details of the transfer confidential.
South Korea’s presidential office said on Sept. 27 that it deeply regretted Ukraine’s announcement of the transfer of the two North Korean prisoners and Kyiv’s subsequent denial that the two governments had agreed to keep the operation secret.
