Washington, Sept 08 (SANA) U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff praised recent talks in Moscow and Kyiv on Monday, saying substantial progress had been made in efforts to advance further negotiations.

In a post on X, Witkoff said: “Substantial progress has been made, including progress toward setting a date for additional trilateral talks.”

Witkoff added that “U.S. President Donald Trump is working hard to stop the killing and work toward lasting peace.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia does not rule out the possibility of resuming trilateral negotiations on Ukraine, but stressed that it is too early to discuss their timing or venue.

Russia Today quoted Peskov as saying in press remarks about a meeting held Saturday between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner: “Any attempts that are effective to some extent are a small step toward peace.”

Witkoff and Kushner visited Kyiv on Monday as part of mediation efforts led by Trump to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, which the supplied source describes as having continued for more than four years.
