Kyiv/Moscow, Aug. 15 (SANA) Russian and Ukrainian forces exchanged intensified drone and missile attacks over the past 24 hours, causing casualties and damage, according to official statements from both sides.

Russian forces carried out 21 attacks on Ukraine’s northern Chernihiv region over the past 24 hours, Ukrinform reported, citing Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the regional military administration.

Russian attacks also struck Marhanets in the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing a three-month-old child and injuring 11 other people, Ukrinform said.

The agency said a 13-year-old girl in Semenivka suffered an acute reaction to the shelling and associated stress. Homes and vehicles were also damaged.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Saturday that its air defenses had neutralized 124 Russian drones and three S8000 Banderol cruise missiles since Friday evening. It reported strikes at 16 locations and falling debris at another site, without providing further details.

The Russian Defense Ministry, meanwhile, said on Saturday that its forces had struck a fuel depot at Yuzhny Port in Odesa, a patrol boat escorting military shipments and military infrastructure at Ukraine’s Izmail Port on the Danube, according to Sputnik.

The ministry said Russian air defenses had downed 598 Ukrainian drones overnight over several Russian regions, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Leningrad and Moscow regions and Krasnodar Territory, as well as over Crimea, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

It also said Russian forces had intercepted 7,078 Ukrainian drones over the past week and destroyed Ukrainian unmanned boats in the Black Sea.

Long-range strikes have continued on both sides, with Ukrainian attacks targeting oil refineries, depots, logistics facilities, defense-industry sites and Russian air-defense systems, while Russian forces have continued drone and missile strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure and other targets.
