Aden, Aug. 9 (SANA) Yemen condemned an attack on a United Arab Emirates oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that such incidents threaten maritime security and international trade.

Yemen‘s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the attack violated international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2817, which it said guarantees freedom of navigation and safe passage through international waterways.

The ministry held Iran responsible for the attacks and their repercussions, warning that further incidents could escalate regional tensions, undermine security and stability and disrupt international trade.

It called for an immediate halt to the attacks and urged compliance with international law.

The statement came after a tanker belonging to UAE energy company ADNOC was targeted by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, amid heightened regional tensions and growing risks to commercial shipping through the strategic waterway.
