Washington, July 31 (SANA) The United States imposed fresh Iran-related sanctions on Thursday, targeting individuals and companies in China, India, Russia and Iran that Washington said help support Iran’s Mahan Air.
The U.S. Treasury Department said its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) had sanctioned six entities and individuals accused of acting as sales agents and providing logistical support for Mahan Air, which is already under U.S. and European sanctions.
The Treasury said Mahan Air, despite presenting itself as a civilian airline, has long provided support to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The sanctions follow another round announced on Wednesday targeting Iran-linked entities, including eight vessels. The Treasury said those measures were intended to counter Iran’s efforts to generate revenue from the Strait of Hormuz and bolster its struggling economy.
