Washington, July 23 (SANA) The U.S. military carried out a new round of strikes against military targets in Iran overnight, marking the twelfth consecutive night of operations, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday.

In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said the strikes, completed at 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, targeted Iranian naval assets, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites and air defense systems.

CENTCOM said U.S. forces have struck dozens of military targets across Iran this month while resuming a naval blockade. It added that nine commercial vessels had been diverted and one vessel disabled to prevent ships from entering or departing Iranian ports.

The command also said more than 50,000 U.S. troops are currently deployed across the Middle East and remain on high alert and ready for combat operations.

President Donald Trump announced on July 8 that a ceasefire agreement with Iran had ended after Tehran targeted commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
