U.S. senator calls Israeli aggressions on Syria "irresponsible," urges immediate halt
U.S. Senator Joe Wilson

Washington, July 2 (SANA) U.S. Senator Joe Wilson described Israel’s continued aggressive operations in Syria as “deeply disturbing” and warned they could backfire strategically, urging an immediate halt to the strikes.

In a post on X on Thursday, Wilson said the ongoing Israeli strikes were “irresponsible” and risked producing consequences that could ultimately harm Israel itself.

President Trump and Secretary Rubio are promoting peace and prosperity throughout the Middle East dismantling the terrorist regime in Tehran and its puppets such as Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas which shout Death to Israel, Death to America.

I appreciate President Trump’s…

“Israel’s continuing aggressive operations in Syria are deeply disturbing, especially in recent days, including bombing and taking more Syrian cities”, Wilson said. “Israel’s actions in Syria are counterproductive and harmful to the interests of Israel.”

He added that these actions are “irresponsible and go against” U.S. efforts for peace and stability in the region.

He said that during talks with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and other Syrian officials, he was “deeply impressed by their foresight and openness to seeking good and respectful relations with Israel.” Wilson added that U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were right to pursue a proposed “non-aggression agreement” between Syria and Israel, describing it as a potential pathway toward regional stability.

The senator also highlighted U.S. efforts to support stability and economic recovery in Syria, saying the country is no longer used as a transit route for Hezbollah and that Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces have fully withdrawn. He added that Syrian forces, working in coordination with the United States, are continuing operations against ISIS cells and reaffirmed Syria’s commitment not to allow its territory to be used against neighboring states.

His remarks came days after Israeli occupation forces advanced into the village of Abidin in western Daraa countryside, where helicopters and artillery shelled the area and its surroundings, prompting some residents to flee to nearby villages.
