Tokyo, June 24 (SANA) International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Wednesday that agency inspectors are expected to resume work in Iran soon, following recent diplomatic developments between Tehran and Washington.
Speaking at a news conference in Japan, Grossi said inspections would “certainly” take place and that discussions were underway to determine the practical arrangements.
“We will very soon work on determining the methods of implementation, the dates, the procedures and the locations,” Grossi said.
His remarks came after the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy shipments.
The IAEA said last week it was prepared to begin identifying the technical steps required under any future agreement between Washington and Tehran concerning Iran’s nuclear program.
The agency has long played a central role in monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities under international agreements and safeguards arrangements.
