Paris, June 8 (SANA) One person was killed and two others were critically injured when a helicopter operated by France’s National Gendarmerie crashed during a search-and-rescue mission in north-central France on Monday, authorities said.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez described the incident as a “tragedy” in a post on X, saying the helicopter went down in the Bray-Saint-Aignan forest in the Loiret department while searching for a missing person.
Local authorities said the two injured crew members remained in critical condition following the crash.
France Info, citing the Loiret departmental security directorate, reported that a judicial investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the accident.
Emergency services were deployed to the crash site as authorities continued efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
