Mecca, May.28 (SANA) Syria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing joint cooperation in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the MoU aims to enhance coordination and cooperation in combating cross-border corruption crimes, exchanging relevant information and expertise, and developing and strengthening institutional capacities on both sides.
The agency added that the memorandum was signed on the Syrian side by the Head of the Central Commission for Inspection and Control, Engineer Amer al-Ali, and on the Saudi side by the President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, Mazin bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous.
During the signing ceremony, the two sides held consultations on ways to enhance cooperation in promoting transparency and combating corruption, and reviewed key procedures and practices implemented by the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority to strengthen transparency and integrity standards, as well as the Syrian side’s experience in the same field.
Earlier this month, Minister of Local Administration and Environment Mohamad Anjrani signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majed bin Abdullah al-Hogail to cooperate in municipal and environmental sectors, including urban planning and the development of public services.
