Deir Ezzor, May 28 (SANA) A humanitarian aid convoy consisting of 11 trucks organized by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent arrived in Deir Ezzor on Thursday, carrying relief supplies for families affected by rising water levels in the Euphrates River, which forced many residents to leave their homes for safer areas.
In a statement to SANA, Director of Disaster Management and Operations at the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Tarek al-Ashraf, said that the convoy includes essential supplies provided in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
He added that the organization is coordinating its efforts with Deir Ezzor Governorate, the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, including the preparation of two shelters for displaced families.
Over recent days, water levels in the Euphrates River have risen significantly following increased water flows through dams along the river, after the Turkish side reportedly released around 2,000 cubic meters of water per second and opened all spillway gates.
