Beirut, May 28 (SANA) At least 12 people, including children and a Lebanese soldier, were killed on Thursday in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas across southern Lebanon amid escalating hostilities.
The Lebanese Army said one of its soldiers was killed in an Israeli in the Nabatieh region. The incident came a day after two other Lebanese soldiers were killed in similar strikes in southern Lebanon.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), six civilians, including children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Adloun highway in the Nabi Sari area near Sidon.
The victims were members of a family attempting to flee villages threatened by ongoing bombardment.
In Sidon, three more people were killed and five others injured after Israeli warplanes struck a residential building in the al-Qayaa district at dawn. Rescue teams recovered bodies from beneath the rubble hours later.
In the Tyre district, an Israeli drone strike targeting a motorcycle near a public housing area killed two people.
Israeli warplanes also carried out intense strikes across several towns and villages in southern Lebanon, including Zebqine, Ramadiyeh, Mansouri, Harouf, Deir al-Zahrani, Jibshit and Ghandoorieh, causing additional injuries and widespread destruction.
The escalation coincided with Israeli evacuation warnings issued to residents living south of the Zahrani River, prompting further civilian displacement across the region.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said at least 3,269 people had been killed and 9,840 injured since renewed hostilities escalated on March 2.
