Washington, May 9 (SANA) The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions Friday on 10 individuals and companies, including several based in China for allegedly enabling Iran’s military to procure weapons and materials used against U.S. forces in the Middle East.
The ministry said in a statement on Friday that the sanctions included entities and individuals who facilitate the supply of weapons and raw materials used in the Iranian army’s ballistic missile and drone programs, holding Chinese entities responsible for their support to Iran.
The department added that it will take all necessary measures to target parties in the three countries that support the Iranian military and defense industrial base.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement ..”Under President Trump’s decisive leadership, we will continue to act to Keep America Safe and target foreign individuals and companies providing Iran’s military with weapons for use against U.S. forces,”.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that his country will continue to disrupt supply networks supporting Iranian military programs, noting that the step comes within the framework of the commitment to re-impose restrictive measures and UN sanctions on Tehran due to its “significant non-compliance” with its nuclear obligations.
He added that the U.S. will use all available tools, including independent U.S. sanctions on those engaged in activities prohibited by Security Council resolutions, to detect and disrupt Iran’s destabilizing activities and prevent the rebuilding of proliferation-sensitive programs.
