Riyadh, May.26 (SANA) Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics announced on Tuesday that the total number of pilgrims performing Hajj during the 1447 AH season reached 1,707,301 pilgrims.
The authority stated that the number of pilgrims arriving from outside the Kingdom reached 1,546,655, while the number of domestic pilgrims, including Saudi citizens and residents, stood at 160,646.
Regarding the means of arrival for foreign pilgrims, the authority said that 1,485,729 pilgrims arrived through air entry points, while 54,429 entered through border crossings, and 6,497 pilgrims arrived via seaports.
Earlier on Tuesday, pilgrims performed the central rite of Hajj by standing at Mount Arafat before proceeding after sunset toward Muzdalifah, where they will spend the night ahead of the Day of Sacrifice and the symbolic stoning of Jamarat al-Aqaba on the first day of Eid al-Adha.
