Riyadh, March 13 (SANA) Saudi Arabia said Friday that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 24 drones across several regions of the kingdom.
Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said 23 drones were shot down over the Eastern and Central regions, including Al-Kharj province and the Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter) desert, while another drone was intercepted as it approached the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh.
Earlier, the ministry reported that 28 drones had been destroyed after entering Saudi airspace.
The attacks come amid the escalating U.S.-Israeli-Iranian conflict, which has been ongoing since February 28, during which Iran has continued launching missile and drone strikes targeting several Arab countries, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure.
