New York, May 21 (SANA) Human Rights Watch warned on Wednesday that the humanitarian infrastructure sustaining Palestinians in the Gaza Strip remains at risk of collapse more than six months after a ceasefire agreement, accusing Israeli occupation of obstructing relief efforts in the enclave.
In a statement cited by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the organization said Israeli authorities were continuing to undermine humanitarian operations in Gaza by restricting aid access and disrupting supply routes.
The statement came as the Board of Peace prepared to brief the United Nations Security Council on efforts aimed at implementing a plan to end the war in Gaza.
Human Rights Watch said ongoing Israeli military attacks had killed at least 856 Palestinians and wounded 2,463 others since the ceasefire agreement was reached, citing medical sources in Gaza.
The organization said humanitarian aid entering the territory remained far below required levels because of Israeli obstruction of delivery routes, stressing the need for a rapid expansion of aid access and stronger protection for humanitarian operations.
On Monday, the United Nations called on Israel to take all necessary measures to prevent genocide in Gaza, while condemning what it described as signs of ethnic cleansing in both the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
The United Nations also urged broader humanitarian access to the territory amid worsening conditions in the enclave.
