Manama, June 25 (SANA) The joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United States on Thursday reaffirmed its commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, pledging continued engagement with the Syrian government to address the country’s key challenges.
The meeting, held in the Bahraini capital, Manama, was co-chaired by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. It was attended by the foreign ministers of the GCC member states and GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi.
The ministers expressed support for the Syrian people in building a stable, secure, inclusive and sovereign state that is fully integrated into its regional environment, while reaffirming their commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
In a joint statement published by the Bahrain News Agency, the ministers said they would continue working with the Syrian government and support its efforts to address key challenges, including counterterrorism, restoring essential services, improving the investment , and facilitating the voluntary return of refugees and internally displaced persons.
