Vienna, June. 4 (SANA) Deputy Minister of Justice Judge Mustafa al-Qasem met with Brigitte Strobel-Shaw, Chief of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance international cooperation in the fields of combating corruption and organized crime, as well as mechanisms for tracing, recovering Syrian assets and funds.
The meeting also addressed prospects for expanding mutual technical and institutional cooperation in a manner that contributes to reinforcing the rule of law and countering financial crimes.
Discussions further focused on asset tracing and recovery efforts, in addition to the exchange of expertise and capacity-building initiatives in areas of mutual interest.

Al-Qasim discusses with UNODC chief in Vienna anti-corruption cooperation
Al-Qasim later met with Monica Juma, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on the sidelines of the 35th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).
The two sides discussed ways to expand cooperation, particularly in the fields of combating corruption, transnational organized crime, and illicit drug trafficking.
The talks also focused on promoting the rule of law and advancing institutional capacities, alongside exploring opportunities for broader technical cooperation and knowledge-sharing in areas of mutual interest.
Both sides underscored the importance of continued coordination and international cooperation in addressing emerging criminal challenges and supporting sustainable institutional development.
