Tunis, May 9 (SANA) Syrian Atomic Energy Commission Director General Modar al-Okla affirmed Syria’s commitment to expanding the horizons of peaceful uses of atomic energy, affirming that Damascus will host a meeting next month with the Arab Atomic Energy Commission.
“Syrian Arab Republic’s participation in the activities of this session comes as a confirmation of our commitment to expanding the horizons of peaceful uses of atomic energy, as Syria has closely strengthened its cooperation with Arab Atomic Energy Agency after restoring its role in the League of Arab States,” al-Okla said in his speech during the 38th General Conference of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency meeting in Tunisia.
Al-Okla added that in the context of this growing cooperation, “we will work to organize two specialized courses in cooperation with Arab Atomic Energy Agency in Syria, to provide national cadres with more advanced expertise.”
He went on to say that Damascus will host the Arab Atomic Energy Agency, represented by its Director General Salem Al-Hamdi, next month, to hold in-depth discussions aimed at studying ways of cooperation and promoting joint projects, in a way that serves the process of development and scientific research in Syria and the region.
the Arab Atomic Energy Agency is a technical organization operating under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, and is headquartered in the Tunisian capital. It aims to develop and coordinate activities related to the peaceful uses of atomic energy in Arab countries, in addition to promoting scientific and technical research in this vital field to support economic and social.
