Doha, May 7 (SANA) Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed bilateral ties and regional developments in a phone call on Wednesday with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.
According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the two ministers reviewed efforts to strengthen cooperation between their countries and discussed regional developments, particularly issues related to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and broader efforts to ease tensions and reinforce regional stability.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of supporting ongoing mediation efforts and dialogue to address the roots of the crisis through peaceful means and reach a lasting agreement that would prevent renewed escalation.
The talks came as U.S. President Donald Trump announced a suspension of measures related to ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the move was intended to allow space for diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, while sanctions and restrictions on Iranian ports remain in place.
Separately, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari called for stronger international cooperation and greater support for institutional dialogue frameworks to help promote stability and security.
Speaking during the NEXT Milan Forum organized by the Italian Institute for International Political Studies, al-Ansari said growing mistrust among international actors was complicating efforts to resolve ongoing conflicts and crises.
He stressed the importance of mediation, diplomacy and international institutions in facilitating dialogue and bringing parties together to pursue practical solutions.
Al-Ansari also warned of rising global pessimism, particularly among young people, amid escalating conflicts and the absence of clear prospects for political settlements.
