Doha, Jan. 21 (SANA) Qatar on Tuesday said it will continue supporting Syria, welcoming a recent agreement to integrate the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into state institutions as a step toward stability.
Majed al-Ansari, Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson, said Syria is entering a new phase requiring state control of weapons and dialogue that protects all citizens’ rights. He added that Qatar’s support will continue both economically and politically.
Earlier, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said Syria faces difficult conditions and needs international assistance to achieve stability and reconstruction.
On Gaza, al-Ansari reiterated Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people and criticized Israel’s refusal to allow a technocratic committee into Gaza, calling for international pressure to enforce the ceasefire and U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
Trump last Friday announced a Gaza Peace Council, following the release of the plan’s second phase, which includes establishing a transitional Palestinian technocratic administration headed by Ali Sha’th.
