Paris, April 11 (SANA) French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed the recently announced ceasefire between the United States and Iran during a phone call on Saturday, emphasizing the need to extend it to Lebanon.

The call comes as direct negotiations between the United States and Iran began in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, earlier on Saturday. The diplomatic push follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement last Wednesday of a two-week suspension of military operations against Iran.

Following his conversation with the Saudi Crown Prince, Macron posted on X outlining their shared priorities.
“I reiterated my support for the ceasefire, which must be fully respected and extended without delay to include Lebanon,” Macron said, adding that the two leaders also discussed the urgent need to restore safe and secure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as quickly as possible.

“We agreed to maintain close contact to contribute to de-escalation, freedom of navigation, and achieving a lasting agreement that guarantees peace and security in the region,” the French president added.
