Indonesia says Israeli law on Palestinian prisoners violates international law
Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry

Jakarta, April 2 (SANA) Indonesia said Thursday that a recently approved Israeli law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners constitutes a serious violation of international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

Indonesia’s foreign ministry said in a statement posted on the platform X on Wednesday that Israel should repeal the law, describing it as a grave breach of international legal standards and reaffirming Jakarta’s full support for the Palestinian people.

The ministry called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take firm measures to ensure accountability and protect Palestinians.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said in a statement on Tuesday that the adoption of the law constitutes a “war crime,” warning that its implementation would amount to a further serious violation of international law.

He added that applying the law to residents of the occupied Palestinian territories would constitute a war crime.

The Israeli Knesset approved the law on March 30, allowing for the execution of Palestinian prisoners, a move that has drawn widespread Arab and international condemnation.
