Beirut, March 30 (SANA) – Several members of a patrol belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were injured on Monday after being targeted by the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that the UNIFIL patrol came under attack on the Bani Hayyan–Tallouseh road, prompting a helicopter from Naqoura to evacuate the wounded to hospitals.
Lebanese media said the injured peacekeepers included members of Indonesian and Spanish contingents who were conducting a joint patrol.
The incident marks the second attack on UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon within 24 hours, after the peacekeeping mission said earlier that an unidentified projectile exploded near the village of Adshit al-Qusayr.
It was not immediately clear whether the latest attack resulted from an airstrike, a drone strike or artillery fire.
UNIFIL has repeatedly been exposed to incidents near its positions and patrol routes in southern Lebanon amid escalating Israeli attacks on the country.
The Israeli occupation has intensified its assaults on Lebanon since early March following strikes by Hezbollah on Israeli positions, with daily air raids reported in Beirut’s southern suburbs and other areas in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa, alongside ground incursions in parts of the south.
