Ottawa, March 25 (SANA) Canada strongly condemned Wednesday Israeli authorities’ plans to occupy land in southern Lebanon, calling for respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Canada’s solidarity with the Lebanese government and people in a statement posted on the platform X, urging all parties to protect civilians, avoid targeting infrastructure, healthcare workers and peacekeeping forces, and act in accordance with international law.
The statement added that attacks by the Hezbollah militia on Israel should be halted and that the group should be disarmed as part of efforts to reduce tensions.
Separately, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Tuesday called on Israeli authorities to refrain from sending forces to take control of southern Lebanon, warning of serious consequences, according to remarks reported by French media.
