Geneva, March 24 (SANA) Palestine’s UN envoy in Geneva, Ibrahim Khraishi, said that a new report by UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese documents systematic Israeli torture of Palestinians that may amount to genocide, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

Discussing the report at the 61st session of the Human Rights Council on Monday, Khraishi noted that the findings are based on hundreds of testimonies collected since October 2023.

He said the testimonies detail severe physical and psychological abuse used by Israeli authorities to intimidate detainees and undermine their fundamental rights.

Khraishi added that the violations affect men, women and children amid what he described as siege, starvation and mass killings, and said the International Committee of the Red Cross has been denied access to detention centers for more than two years.

He called for urgent international action and accountability, a demand echoed by several states and organizations, while UNRWA warned of worsening humanitarian conditions.

The report also highlights harsh treatment of Palestinians in Israeli prisons, including degrading practices and the use of dogs as part of what it described as a broader system of coercion and the destruction of livelihoods.
