Washington, March 23 (SANA) – US President Donald Trump said on Monday that recent developments in Iran could be described as a form of “regime change,” pointing to ongoing contacts with new negotiating counterparts.
In an interview with CNBC, Trump said the individuals involved in potential negotiations with Iran “represent change itself,” adding: “I consider this regime change because I’m now talking to new people,” describing the talks as “productive.”
Speaking separately to Fox Business, Trump said Iran is “very eager” to reach an agreement, suggesting a deal could be achieved within “five days or less.”
He also confirmed that the latest round of discussions between US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and their Iranian counterparts took place on Sunday evening.
Earlier, Trump said on his Truth Social platform that recent talks between the United States and Iran had been “good and productive,” noting that he had instructed the US military to delay planned strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure for five days.
