Ankara, March 18 (SANA) Türkiye announced Wednesday that NATO has deployed an additional Patriot missile battery at Incirlik air base in southern Türkiye.

A Turkish Ministry of Defense official told AFP that the deployment follows repeated interceptions of missiles launched from Iran since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, adding that the new system will complement the Spanish Patriot battery already stationed at the base.

The Turkish Defense Ministry had said earlier this month that NATO air defense systems intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile upon entering Turkish airspace.

Iran continues to launch missile and drone attacks on several countries in the region, resulting in casualties and damage to infrastructure, in the wake of ongoing US and Israeli military actions against Iran.
