Ankara, March 16 (SANA) Türkiye currently controls nearly 65% of the global military drone market, Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said on Sunday, crediting the rapid rise of domestic manufacturer Baykar.
Kacır said Türkiye has become a leading player in unmanned systems and that “kamikaze drones” have become a defining feature of modern conflict. He stressed Ankara is pushing to expand capabilities in unmanned platforms, missiles and radar systems.
Kacır also highlighted that the companies Roketsan and TÜBİTAK SAGE have advanced strategic missile programmes, including a system with a range of up to 2,000 km.
Baykar, considered the driving force of Türkiye’s drone industry, has since 2003 broken global monopolies in unmanned aviation through independent research and development. Its platforms have demonstrated high battlefield effectiveness, making them among the most in-demand systems worldwide. The company now serves as a strategic supplier to 37 countries, reinforcing the role of advanced technology as a key component of global defense exports.
