London, March 15 (SANA) – The United Kingdom is examining all available options to help restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime corridor linking the Arabian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman, Energy Secretary Edward Miliband said.

Speaking to the BBC, Miliband said ensuring the reopening of the strait is “a priority for the world,” noting that London is holding consultations with allies, including the United States, on ways to resume normal shipping through the strategic waterway.

Miliband also referred to a recent visit by UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to Saudi Arabia, where she held talks with Gulf officials regarding developments related to the strait, stressing that Britain aims to coordinate closely with partners on the issue.

Earlier this week, UK Defence Secretary John Healey said London was considering additional options to deploy forces in the Arabian Gulf.

The comments come amid ongoing regional tensions following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, and subsequent Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting several countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia.
