Kuwait City, March 11 (SANA) Kuwait’s National Guard said Wednesday that eight drones were shot down in the country’s airspace as security forces heightened vigilance amid rising regional tensions.
National Guard spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jadaan Fadel Jadaan said the drones were intercepted within areas secured by a special task force.
“Eight drones were downed in the areas of responsibility secured by the task force as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security, protect vital facilities and confront potential threats,” Jadaan said in a statement posted on the social media platform X.
He urged the public to follow safety and security instructions, adding that the National Guard, in coordination with the army, police and fire service, remains fully prepared to counter threats and safeguard the country’s stability and national interests.
The announcement came after several Gulf countries reported Iranian aerial attacks earlier Wednesday. Qatar and Saudi Arabia said their air defense systems intercepted missile and drone strikes launched toward their territories.
