London, March 5 (SANA) Britain on Thursday warned its citizens against traveling to Lebanon as tensions escalate in the Middle East and clashes between Israel and Hezbollah intensify.
The British Foreign Office said in a statement on its website that the advisory now applies to all of Lebanon except in exceptional circumstances, expanding earlier guidance that warned only against travel to specific areas, Reuters reported.
The warning comes after a sharp military escalation that began early Monday when Hezbollah militia fired several rockets toward Israeli positions.
Israel responded with a series of airstrikes targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs and areas in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, leaving dozens dead and injured.
The escalation has raised concerns of a wider regional conflict as U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran continue and Tehran responds with missile attacks.
