Berlin, June.1 (SANA) Final migration statistics released by Germany’s Federal Statistical Office indicate a significant decline in the number of Syrian migrants arriving in the country during 2025.
According to official data cited by the German newspaper Die Welt, net migration from Syria fell by 67 percent in 2025, dropping from 75,000 people in 2024 to approximately 25,000, marking the largest decline among the principal countries of origin for asylum seekers in Germany.
The statistics attributed the decrease primarily to a sharp reduction in asylum applications submitted by Syrian nationals.
Overall, Germany received around 1.48 million migrants during 2025, while approximately 1.25 million people left the country, representing a 13 percent decline in net migration compared with 2024.
The figures reflect a notable shift in migration trends to Germany, particularly regarding Syrian migrants, who have constituted one of the largest groups arriving in the country over the past decade.
Developments concerning the return of Syrian refugees in several countries have accelerated since the fall of the former regime on December 8, 2024.
