Istanbul, April 19 (SANA) Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates Saqr Ghobash discussed on Sunday with German Bundestag member Alexander Radwan, a member of the Foreign Affairs and European Affairs committees, the repercussions of the security situation in the region.
On the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Istanbul, Ghobash stressed, according to the Emirates News Agency, that attacks targeting the UAE cannot be justified under any circumstances, reaffirming his country’s commitment to respecting state sovereignty and avoiding involvement in conflicts.
Ghobash reviewed the scale of threats faced by the UAE, noting that Iranian conduct in the region, including interference in the affairs of states, raises concerns about the future of regional stability. He also warned of the risks associated with closing the Strait of Hormuz, citing its impact on the global economy, supply chains, and maritime security.
For his part, Radwan expressed Germany’s solidarity with the UAE, affirming support in addressing current challenges and praising measures taken to ensure the safety and security of its population.
The 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union began last Wednesday in Istanbul under the theme “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations,” marking Syria’s first participation after years of absence.
