Washington, Mar. 1 (SANA) – The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Sunday that it had carried out a large-scale military operation, in coordination with Israeli forces, targeting what it described as senior leadership sites in Iran.
In a statement published on its official account on the X platform, CENTCOM said the operation struck what it referred to as the “head of the snake,” an apparent reference to strikes targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The command claimed that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,000 Americans over the past 47 years, adding that the United States possesses “the strongest military in the world.”
According to the statement, the strikes left the IRGC “without a central headquarters,” following attacks on key command structures.
The announcement comes a day after the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on multiple targets across Iran, including Tehran and other cities, using precision-guided weapons fired from air, land and sea. Iranian officials reported the deaths of several senior figures, while Iran responded with missile attacks against Israel and launched ballistic strikes toward several Gulf states and Jordan, causing civilian casualties and damage.
