Abu Dhabi, Mar. 1 (SANA) – The United Arab Emirates announced Sunday the closure of its embassy in Tehran and the withdrawal of its ambassador and diplomatic staff from Iran following Iranian missile attacks targeting Emirati territory.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the strikes as hostile acts that hit civilian locations, including residential areas, airports, ports and service facilities, placing civilians at risk and constituting a serious escalation and a violation of national sovereignty and international law.
The ministry said the decision reflects the UAE’s firm position rejecting any actions that threaten its security and sovereignty, citing continued Iranian escalation that undermines efforts toward de-escalation.
It warned that the ongoing tensions risk pushing the region toward dangerous trajectories, threatening regional and international stability as well as global energy security and economic stability.
Earlier, the UAE Ministry of Defense reported three foreign nationals killed and 58 people injured during the past 24 hours as a result of the Iranian attacks. Air defenses intercepted dozens of ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones since the escalation began Saturday, according to official figures.
