Missile exchanges between Iran and Israel continue for second day

Capitals, March 1 (SANA) Missile attacks between Iran and Israel continued for a second consecutive day on Sunday, with air raid sirens sounding across parts of Israel and explosions reported in several Gulf cities, according to media reports and official statements.

Israeli media said Iran launched five missile barrages at Israel in less than an hour. The Israeli military said it had carried out airstrikes using ballistic missiles against targets in central and western Tehran aimed at weakening Iran’s air defenses.

Iranian state television said Tehran had launched fresh missile attacks against Israel and U.S. bases in the region. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed to launch what it described as the “fiercest attack in history” against Israel and the United States, a day after Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in airstrikes.

In a statement, the IRGC said it had carried out the sixth wave of “Operation True Promise 4,” targeting 27 U.S. bases in the region.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Khamenei’s killing “will not go unanswered,” adding that the country was united and would overcome the difficult period.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned the United States and Israel that they had “crossed the red line” and would “pay the price.”

Agence France-Presse reported explosions Sunday morning in several Gulf capitals, including Manama, Doha and Dubai, with smoke seen rising following new Iranian attacks. Jordanian media said air raid sirens were activated in parts of the country.

On Saturday, the United States and Israel launched a series of strikes on targets inside Iran, including Tehran and other cities, using missiles and precision-guided munitions fired from air, land and sea. The strikes killed several senior Iranian leaders, including Khamenei, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard and the defense minister.

Iran responded with missile strikes on Israel and targeted U.S. military facilities and sites in several Gulf states, resulting in reported civilian casualties.
