Geneva, Feb. 23 (SANA) – United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk warned that the Israeli occupation’s continued killing of Palestinians and severe restrictions on aid deliveries are pushing the Gaza Strip toward an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
Türk said that humanitarian assistance entering Gaza remains far below minimum needs, despite the scale of civilian suffering, warning of credible risks of ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank amid accelerating Israeli efforts to impose illegal annexation of occupied Palestinian land.
He stressed that any sustainable resolution to the crisis must be grounded in the implementation of the two-state solution, guaranteeing the rights of the Palestinian people and laying the foundations for a just and lasting peace.
International concern has intensified over Israeli policies aimed at enforcing de facto annexation of the West Bank through settlement expansion and land seizures. United Nations reports warn that these unilateral measures are fundamentally altering realities on the ground, undermining the legal basis of the two-state solution and threatening to render a viable Palestinian state impossible, prompting calls for urgent international action to halt violations and protect Palestinian rights.
