The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, on Sunday strongly condemned the illegal incursion into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli forces and settlers.
In a statement, Al-Budaiwi said, “These attacks represent a serious escalation and an unacceptable transgression.” He called on the international community to uphold its legal and humanitarian responsibilities and to take action to stop these repeated violations, which destabilize security and heighten tensions in the region.
He also urged the international community to provide necessary protection for the Palestinian people and their religious sites.
In another incident, Israeli settlers on Thursday, set fire to the Hajja Hamida Mosque in the Palestinian village of Deir Istiya, near Salfit in the northern West Bank.
