Damascus, SANA- Hussein al-Khatib, Deputy Acting Minister of Health, discussed Monday with Hilde Haraldstad, Chargé d’Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy in Damascus ways to boost joint cooperation in the health sector .
During a meeting held at the ministry, Dr. Al-Khatib pointed out that there are several needs for rebuilding and restoring completely or partially destroyed health facilities, as well as a shortage of medical equipment or its being out of service.
He expressed the Ministry’s welcome to the support provided by Norway to the health sector in a way that serves the interests of patients and ensures the provision of the necessary health services.
In turn, Haraldstad affirmed her country’s readiness to support the health sector in various fields, stressing the need to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria, as they negatively affect the health sector and the quality of services provided to patients.
