Occupied Jerusalem, May 9 (SANA) Medical sources in Gaza Strip said on Saturday that shortages of specialized medication, laboratory supplies and blood units, along with damage to healthcare facilities and repeated displacement, are putting patients’ lives at serious risk.
According to WAFA News Agency, 50 out of 334 registered thalassemia patients have died since the war began, while 47 others have left the enclave. Around 237 patients remain in Gaza, including 52 children under the age of 12.
Medical officials said the destruction of laboratory infrastructure and the lack of diagnostic equipment have disrupted patient monitoring and increased the risk of undetected complications.
They urged international health organizations to intervene urgently and provide essential medicines and medical supplies as Gaza’s healthcare system continues to deteriorate under the ongoing blockade and conflict.
