Damascus, May 14 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation during a phone call, with a focus on development, economic and investment cooperation.
The two leaders discussed efforts to strengthen cooperation in areas serving development priorities and mutual interests in both countries.
They also exchanged views on a number of regional issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the Middle East and their implications for regional and international security and stability, as well as ongoing diplomatic efforts related to the situation.
On Wednesday, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said he had conveyed greetings from the UAE leadership to President Ahmad al-Sharaa and discussed ways to deepen cooperation and broaden economic and development ties between the two countries.
The minister added that economic relations between Syria and the United Arab Emirates were gaining momentum, particularly in trade and investment, amid growing efforts to expand bilateral cooperation.
Damascus hosted the first two-day Syrian-Emirati Investment Forum organized by the Syrian Investment Authority to discuss opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.
The forum comes as Syria seeks to attract regional investment and rebuild economic ties following years of war and economic disruption.
