Damascus, April 4 (SANA) – The Syrian Medical Association concluded its first scientific conference on Saturday, bringing together more than 1,400 physicians from Syria and abroad for a three-day event titled “Advances in Human Medical Specialties.”
The conference focused on modernizing Syria’s healthcare sector, highlighting priorities such as upgrading medical systems with technology, improving working conditions for doctors, reducing medical staff emigration, and encouraging Syrian medical professionals abroad to return.
Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific research, updating medical education, expanding local and international collaboration, and raising the quality of healthcare services.
Officials said the conference offered a platform for in-depth discussions, with particular attention given to supporting resident doctors, several of whom were recognized for their research contributions.

Digital participation enabled broad international engagement, allowing Syrian doctors abroad to share expertise and collaborate with colleagues in the country.
Speakers highlighted the role of such conferences in bridging the gap between domestic and overseas medical professionals, fostering knowledge transfer, and boosting the healthcare system’s capacity to respond to current and future challenges.
Throughout the event, attendees reviewed the latest medical advancements and explored ways to align Syria’s healthcare sector with international standards as part of the country’s broader reconstruction efforts.
