Damascus, Jan. 27 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Health has launched a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate and strengthen medical services in newly liberated areas of Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and northern Aleppo, the ministry said on Monday.

The plan aims to ensure continuity of care, improve service quality and address urgent humanitarian needs in regions affected by years of conflict.

According to the ministry, the programme includes strengthening medical supply and ambulance services, providing treatment for around 380 patients with kidney failure, and supplying Raqqa National Hospital with 20 new dialysis machines. Urgent measures are also under way to rehabilitate damaged hospital departments in the eastern region.

The ministry has deployed mobile medical clinics and modern ambulances to improve emergency response and ensure faster access to medical care.

As part of its humanitarian response, health officials conducted an assessment visit to al-Hol Camp, where supplies of essential medicines for chronic diseases, medical equipment and ambulance services were reinforced. A dedicated operations room and specialized outpatient clinics have also been activated inside the camp, the statement said.

The ministry has allocated six million US dollars to rehabilitate hospitals in Deir Ezzor and ten million US dollars to restore three main hospitals in Raqqa, as part of efforts to stabilize healthcare services in the region.

In addition, new health centers have been opened in the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods of Aleppo and in the eastern countryside, while field assessments are continuing to evaluate technical and service needs.

The ministry said it has also begun implementing a strategic shift focusing on vaccination programmes and healthcare services for mothers, children and the elderly, alongside transferring emergency medical capacities from eastern Aleppo to Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.

Since Jan. 23, the ministry has entered a phase of sustainable recovery, with preparations under way to activate a specialized cardiac hospital in Deir Ezzor.

The statement said the plan’s rollout has been monitored through inspection visits by the deputy health minister and other officials to the newly liberated areas.
