Damascus, March 1 (SANA) Syria’s Education Ministry said it had suspended classes in all schools in the southern provinces of Quneitra, Daraa and Sweida starting Sunday, March 1, 2026, until further notice, citing safety concerns.
In a statement issued Saturday, the ministry said the decision was taken to protect students and teaching staff amid prevailing conditions. It also urged education authorities in other provinces to take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students and school personnel.
The move comes as regional tensions escalate, with Israel and Iran exchanging missile and drone strikes since earlier in the day. Debris from some of the projectiles has fallen inside Syrian territory, particularly in the southern regions, raising security risks and prompting precautionary measures.
