Doha, Jan. 11 (SANA) Syria participated for the first time in the 7th International Schools Debating Championship in Arabic (ISDC), organized by the Qatar Debates Center and hosted by Texas A&M University at Qatar. The initiative is part of efforts to support and develop the debating skills of Syrian youth.
The Syrian team concluded its participation on Saturday after losing two of five rounds, exiting before the semifinals. The experience is considered a foundational step for Syria on the international debating stage.

In the summer of 2025, the Syrian team competed in the international qualifying rounds online and secured second place globally among 40 teams, earning their spot in the Doha finals.
Debating in Syria began on April 1, 2025, with the first national online schools debating championship, organized under the supervision of “Syria Debates”.
