Jeddah, Sept.06 (SANA) Syria and the Islamic Development Bank Group discussed strengthening cooperation and supporting recovery and development efforts during a series of meetings held by a Syrian Foreign Ministry delegation in Jeddah.
Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Qutaiba Kadish and his accompanying delegation met senior IsDB Group officials and representatives of several institutions and departments affiliated with the group during the visit.
The meetings included talks with Issa Faye, director general for Global Practices and Partnerships; Abdul Rabeh Abdous, vice president for finance and group chief financial officer; and Rami Ahmad, vice president for operations.
The Syrian delegation also met representatives of the Islamic Research and Training Institute, the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation and the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit.
The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Syria and the IsDB Group, supporting recovery and development efforts and financing priority projects.
Discussions also covered revitalizing the private sector, developing trade, providing investment and export insurance, building capacity and providing technical assistance.
Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining coordination and further developing cooperation in line with Syria’s national priorities and the needs of the country’s recovery and rebuilding phase.
The Islamic Development Bank Group was established in 1973 and is headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It comprises 57 member countries across four continents and works to promote economic and social development in member countries and Muslim communities worldwide through Sharia-compliant financing and development principles.
