Damascus, Aug. 30 (SANA) EU Chargé d’Affaires Michael Ohnmacht on Sunday expressed solidarity with families of thousands of Syrians who remain missing or forcibly disappeared, marking the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.

“Today, we remember thousands of missing and forcibly disappeared Syrians and their families, who continue to await news of their loved ones,” Ohnmacht said on X.

Earlier Sunday, Syria’s National Authority for Missing Persons launched the national “Athar” programme, allowing families to report missing and forcibly disappeared relatives through a mobile application or its website.

The UN General Assembly designated Aug. 30 as the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances in 2010 to raise awareness and support victims’ families.
